Julie Murphy, MA, CCC-SLP
Meet the Owner
Founder of South Pasadena Speech
Julie received her Bachelor's degree in Dance from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In 2018, she shifted into the field of communication disorders and went on to earn her Master's degree in Communicative Disorders from Cal State LA in 2020.
With experience across school settings and private practice, Julie has supported children with a wide range of diagnoses, including ADHA, autism, Down syndrome, Williams syndrome and others. This variety of work has helped her understand how to tailor therapy to each child’s unique strengths, challenges, and daily life.
During graduate school, Julie developed a special interest in orofacial myofunctional disorders after recognizing similar patterns in her own history and later in her daughter. This led her to pursue additional training in myofunctional therapy, apraxia of speech, and pediatric feeding, with a focus on supporting the whole child.
Through South Pasadena Speech, Julie provides individualized, evidence-based speech therapy service with strong family involvement and engaging, child-centered sessions. Parents are valued partners in the process. Julie offers clear guidance and practical home practice, and she welcomes parent involvement during therapy sessions and at home. She also collaborates closely with other professionals, mentors, and colleagues, ensuring she is always learning and bringing the best possible support to every family.
Outside of the clinic, you can often find her taking long walks with her family, training for marathons, or slipping into a ballet class whenever she can.
